Golf's leaders frequently convene at men's majors, but this week they gathered on LPGA soil at the Chevron to discuss how to drive the women's game forward

“Something unusual happened early this week at the Chevron Championship. Golf’s most important leaders gathered on LPGA soil to brainstorm how to drive the women’s game forward. Attendees of the inaugural Commission at The Chevron Championship in Houston included PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh and U.S. Golf Association CEO Mike Whan.”

At golf’s newest major, this local legend knows what matters most

“Stacy Lewis admits it’s a little bit strange being at the LPGA’s first major championship of 2023. After a half-century in Palm Springs, the Chevron Championship (formerly known as the ANA and the Dinah Shore) has relocated to the Woodlands, just outside of Houston. That means a new golf course. It means new traditions. But for Lewis it means a blast from the past, too: sleeping at home.”

Leader in the Clubhouse: Stacy Lewis Stepping up in Every Way at Chevron Championship

“You see her influence right away, starting with Dinah’s Place, the pavilion surrounding the 18th green at the Club at Carlton Woods. The players’ lounge is also called the 1972 Club. And the ice cream in player dining is a distinct nod to the soft-serve machine that was always a hit in the old Mission Hills clubhouse. Those touches, connecting the past to the present and the present to the future, came together this week at the Chevron Championship because of a committed sponsor, an enthusiastic town, and the impassioned leadership of a past champion and former world No.1 – Stacy Lewis.”

'It's just been a blessing': LPGA assists working mothers at Chevron Championship in The Woodlands

“Stacy Lewis, a former star of The Woodlands High School, is sleeping at her parents' house this week as The Chevron Championship is being held in her hometown.

The championship is one of five major tournaments on the LPGA Tour. While former champions like Lewis, sleeping at their parents' place is rare. Ensuring mothers and children are together is a pillar for the LPGA Tour.”

The Beloved Old Course at St. Andrews Is So Much More Than the Home of Golf

“Some memories can be fickle and fluid, changing as the echo travels farther away from the source. Others are utterly seared, frozen in time like a perfect Kodachrome slide. The moment I fell in love with the Old Course at St. Andrews is unequivocally in the latter category. I can project it on the back of my forehead in razor sharp focus.”

Stacy Lewis Sad To Leave Mission Hills, But Excited For The Future

“A bench. That’s what made Stacy Lewis go misty-eyed when talking about her memories of the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club. Lewis made the beloved leap into Poppie’s Pond in 2011, a moment that she will forever associate with a simple locker-room bench.

“I had done my press conference and went in the locker room. I was still wet, trying to find clothes to change into,” said Lewis, her voice cracking as she looked out at the 18th green. “I sat on that bench and called my college coaches, and it was like it all hit me there. We don't get to do that. I'm getting emotional about it, but this place is so special to us as a tour. I'm just going to miss the whole week.””
